Requirements
Our client, a manufacturer of turbojet engines, is seeking a Sr. Business Development Director who will identify, develop, and manage new business opportunities while strengthening relationships with key stakeholders within the defense sector. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of defense contracting, government procurement processes, and a proven track record in business development and relationship management.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Planning: Develop and implement business development strategies to expand the company’s footprint within the U.S. Defense Department and related agencies.
Opportunity Identification:Â Research and analyze market trends, government priorities, and potential opportunities to position the company for success in defense contracts.
Stakeholder Engagement:Â Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including government officials, defense contractors, and industry partners, to promote collaboration and partnership opportunities.
Proposal Management:Â Lead the proposal development process, ensuring alignment with customer needs and compliance with government regulations and requirements.
Market Intelligence:Â Monitor competitive landscape and conduct SWOT analyses to inform business strategies and identify potential areas for growth.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:Â Collaborate with internal teams, including engineering, operations, and finance, to ensure that proposed solutions align with technical capabilities and business goals.
Networking and Representation:Â Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and trade shows, promoting our capabilities and enhancing visibility within the defense community.
Reporting and Metrics:Â Track and report on business development activities, pipeline status, and contract wins, providing regular updates to senior management.
Qualifications and Job Information
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
Ability to hold a Top-Secret Clearance
10+ years of experience in business development, with a focus on the U.S. defense sector and government contracting.
Proven track record of successfully securing defense contracts and building relationships with government agencies.
Proven track record submitting successful DoD proposals of at least $25M
Strong understanding of defense procurement processes, regulations, and compliance requirements (e.g., FAR, DFARS).
Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to interpret market data and trends.
Preferred Qualifications:
Existing relationships with key stakeholders in the U.S. Defense Department and related agencies on jet engines, drones or missiles.
Knowledge of emerging technologies and trends within the defense industry.
Experience leading cross-functional teams in a business development capacity.
